Dora Jean LaBare (Costlow), 78, passed away on Friday, December 30, 2016. She was born on May 11, 1938 and resided with her mother, grandmother and two sisters in Morgantown, West Virginia. After graduation, Jean moved to Battle Creek, Michigan where she worked as a retail advertising billing clerk at the Battle Creek Enquirer, for Wolverine Insurance and Federal Life and then at Battle Creek Community Hospital. It was during her time in Battle Creek that she met and married Elton LaBare in September 1958 and celebrated 40 years of marriage in 1998.
She and Elton were blessed with two children: Lynn LaBare (Diana) and Amy LaBare (Billings) (Tom). Jean has four grandchildren: Todd of Grand Rapids, Michigan; Carrie of Denver Colorado; Stephen of Mansfield, Texas and Jarod of Lansing, Michigan.
Jean was greatly interested in crafts but her real passion was art, specifically painting, and her works of art graced not only her home but relatives as well. She enjoyed cooking, reading and traveling.
She is predeceased by her husband. She is survived by her children and grandchildren. A memorial service will be forthcoming. Donations of love may be made to the Alzheimers Foundation in her honor.
