Donald Duane Cook, 82, of Beaverton, Michigan, passed away at his home on Wednesday, November 9, 2016. He was born on September 24, 1934, the son of Thomas & Alice (Butcher) Cook in Farwell, Michigan. Donald was a veteran of the United States Army, proudly serving his country from 1952-1955. On August 28, 1965, he was united in marriage to Patricia Cotton in Clare, Michigan. She predeceased him in 2007. He was employed as a truck driver for Bender & Sons in Carrolton, Michigan, before retiring in 1992, He has lived in Gladwin County since 1975, previously residing in Freeland, Michigan. Donald was an avid woodcarver, enjoying making many objects including airplanes, semi-trucks, and aircraft carriers. Left to cherish his memory is his daughters: Kimberly Riggs of Beaverton; Robin (Kenneth) Reger of Clare; grandchildren: Joshua, Ryan, Zachary, Dakota, Bailey, Sidney; 6 great grandchildren; brother: Robert Cook of Clare; sister: Donna Meyers of Hope; several nieces & nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents: Thomas & Alice Cook; wife: Patricia Cook; 4 brothers; 2 sisters. Honoring his wishes cremation has taken place.
