Mary Leonard Gostiaux passed away on Tuesday, November 8, 2016 at the Gladwin Pines Nursing Home. Mary was born the daughter of Fred & Belvia Leonard in Saginaw, Michigan on May 1, 1924. She graduated from Gladwin High School in 1942. She graduated from Central Michigan University in 1947. She married George Acker in 1947. Mary taught Kindergarten for 22 years. She taught school at Muskegon Heights, Alma, and Clawson. George Acker died in 1982. Mary married Robert Gostiaux and after he retired from Chrysler and Mary from teaching, they moved to Gladwin, Michigan. Robert died in 1992. Mary had three sons and two step-sons. George and his wife Kim live in Kalkaska; Michael and his wife Eilene live in Ellsworth. Her son Jonathan predeceased her and his wife Debbie Spencer McGillis lives in Ferndale. Step-son Jim Gostiaux and his wife Sandy live in Royal Oak. Step-son Richard Gostiaux predeceased her and his wife Cindy lives in Marlette. There are two grandchildren by Kim & George, Andrea Reinard and her husband Jeremy live in Kalkaska. Jennifer Hart and her husband live in the Leonard house in Gladwin. There are also four step-grandchildren, Andrea, Shannon, Lori and Gladys. Mary also has a great grandchild, Abigail Reinard. Mary loved her family, her teaching career and she would report ”Mary Had a Good Life”.  A Celebration of Mary’s life will be conducted on Monday, November 21, 2016, 11:00 A.M. at the First United Methodist Church, Gladwin, Michigan. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church, Gladwin.
