Evelyn Tomlinson

Evelyn Tomlinson, age 76, of Gladwin, Michigan passed away at her home surrounded by her family on Sunday, November 6, 2016. She was born in Dorton, Kentucky on March 23, 1940 to Frances & Florence (Tackett) Akers. On June 1, 1956 Evelyn met the love of her life, James Tomlinson and in 2 short weeks at the age of 16, she and James got married on June 14, 1956 in Lansing, Michigan. They shared 32 wonderful years together before he predeceased her in 1988. In 1985 she and James moved to Gladwin where the two of them spent their time as auctioneers traveling to Lansing to do auctions. She was owner/operator of J&T Auction, providing services in Gladwin as well as many other surrounding communities. Evelyn loved spending summer days outside on her swing watching her grandchildren and her great grandchildren play. She loved the music of Elvis and Johnny Cash and playing Tetris. Her memory will be cherished by her daughters: Jamie (Barry) Burleson of Gladwin; Peggy King of Gladwin; Patty (Paul) Andrews of Lansing. Her children blessed her with 15 beautiful grandchildren and 23 wonderful great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband: James Tomlinson; 2 daughters: Charlene Tomlinson; Debra (Keith) Perry; 1 granddaughter: Jessica Tomlinson; 1 great granddaughter: Caitlyn Rogers. She will be laid to rest at Deepdale Memorial Gardens in Lansing, Michigan on Thursday, November 10, 2016, 1:00 P.M. She will forever be missed by us all. “Rest in Peace”.
