Frank Leon Bliss Jr, 89, of Gladwin, Michigan passed away at Mid Michigan Gladwin Pines on Monday, October 17, 2016. He was born in Vassar, Michigan on January 1, 1927 the son of Frank Sr. & Clara (Elliott) Bliss. In 1961 he was united in marriage to Nelda M. Cramer in Georgia. They shared 44 wonderful years of marriage before she predeceased him in 2005. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, proudly serving his country during World War II. In 1955 he joined the Plaster Union where he worked for many years, and then in 1963 he moved to Gladwin from Ann Arbor where he became a self-employed cement and plaster contractor, Bliss Contracting which he owned and operated until his retirement. He was a member of the American Legion 171 and a life member of the VFW. He enjoyed bowling, and loved to watch the Detroit Tigers and the Detroit Lions. His memory will be forever cherished by his step son: David (Barbara) Brooks; granddaughter: Amanda; 2 brothers: Alvin Bliss and Raymond Bliss; sister: Margaret Bell and several nieces & nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife: Nelda Bliss; grandson: Ryan Brooks; parents; 2 brothers: James Bliss; Donald Bliss; 1 sister: Mary Jane Bliss. Honoring his wishes, Frank has generously donated his body to the University of Michigan Medical School Anatomical Donations Program.
