Wilma Grace Yates, 76, of Midland, Michigan passed away at Mid Michigan Health in Midland on Wednesday, October 5, 2016. She was born in Harlan, Kentucky on November 6, 1939 the daughter of Willy & Ester Mae (Collins) Saylor. On October 3, 1958 she was united in marriage to Lawrence “Larry” Robert Yates in Midland, and they shared 27 wonderful years together before he predeceased her in 1985. She had lived in Midland County for the last 20 years, previously residing in Six Lakes, Michigan. She was employed as a cook working for numerous nursing homes throughout her career. Her memory will be cherished by her children: Jeff (Lynn) Yates of Reed City, Michigan; Jay Yates of Bentonville, Arkansas; Joy Yates of Chattanooga, Tennessee; Joel (Tammy) Yates of Augusta, Georgia; Jody (Dean) Best of Midland, Michigan; June Yates of Lakeland, Florida. Her children blessed her with 18 beautiful grandchildren and 19 wonderful great grandchildren, whom she truly adored. She will also be dearly missed by her sister: Hazel (Dick) Mitchell of California; her brother: Jimmy (Kathy) Saylor of Cleveland, Tennessee and several nieces & nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband: Larry Yates; grandson: Jeremy Allen Yorch; parents; Willy & Ester Saylor; sister: Thelma. Funeral Services will be conducted by Pastor Roger Stauffer on Monday, October 10, 2016, 1:00 P.M. at Hall-Kokotovich Funeral Home, Beaverton, Michigan. The family will receive friends on Monday, October 10, 2016 from 11:00 A.M. until the time of service. She will be laid to rest at Tobacco Twp.
