Dorothy U. Smith

Dorothy U. Smith, 98, previously of Midland, Michigan passed away at Gladwin Nursing and Rehabilitation on Sunday, August 7, 2016. She was born the second of seven children to Eber and Hazel (Keezer) Goheen on February 4, 1918 in Gladwin County. On October 2, 1937 she married David Smith in Gladwin, he preceded her in death in 1981. She worked in the cafeteria at Northwood University of Midland for many years. She was a member of the Community of Christ Church in Midland and resided in the Gladwin and Midland areas for most of her life. In her free time Dorothy enjoyed gardening, tending to her flower beds and cooking. Left to cherish her memory are her son Jerry David (Betty) Smith of Gladwin; her three daughters: Carolyn (George) Corlew, Rosalie Smith, and Yvonne Corlew, all of Gladwin; and a special friend of the family: Shirley Corlew. Her children blessed her with 13 beautiful grandchildren, several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, son Ray Smith, granddaughter Penny, parents, two brothers, four sisters and all of their spouses. Funeral Services will be conducted by Elder Sue Rausch at 11:30 A.M. on Friday, August 12, 2016 at Hall-Kokotovich Funeral Home in Gladwin, Michigan. The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 11, 2016 from 4-8 P.M., at the funeral home.
