John "Jack" R. Austin

John R. “Jack” Austin, 76, of Gladwin, Michigan passed away, after a short illness, at his home on Tuesday, July 19, 2016. He was born the son of James and Isabelle (Curdy) Austin on March 3, 1940 in Lansing, Michigan. He married the love of his life Barbara Liljeholm on April 20, 1963 in Detroit, Michigan. He was a veteran of the United States Navy. He received a Bachelor’s of Business and Accounting from the University of Detroit. He was employed as a purchasing agent at Ford Motor Company, retiring January 1, 1998. He was a resident of Gladwin County for 18 years, previously residing in Canton, Michigan. His memory will be cherished by his loving wife of 53 years; his sons Kyle (Carol) Austin of Algonquin, Illinois and Trevor (Rosaleen) Austin of Canton, Michigan. His children blessed him with four beautiful grandchildren: Isabel, Chase, Gunnar and Cooper. He is preceded in death by his father, James, and mother, Isabelle. Honoring his wishes, cremation will take place and a memorial service will be held at a later date at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan.
