Thomas P. McKimmy, 67, of Beaverton, Michigan passed away at Mid Michigan Medical Center, Midland, Michigan on Sunday, June 19, 2016. He was born the son of Paul and Lottie (Burkett) McKimmy on January 6, 1949 in Gladwin, Michigan. He was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Peggy Hicks on June 14, 1969 in Beaverton, Michigan. Tom was a lifetime resident of Gladwin County where he was a teacher with Beaverton Rural Schools for 30 years. He loved agriculture, spending his life producing crops and working the land. He has been a member of the Beaverton Church of the Brethren since childhood, serving as church board member and deacon. He was also a member of the Gladwin County Farm Bureau and served as a board member of the Gladwin County Conservation District. Tom was an avid sportsman. His favorite place to go was Whitefish Lodge in Wawa, Canada where he would fish and bait bear. Tom’s memory will be forever cherished by his loving wife of 47 years, Peggy McKimmy of Beaverton, his daughter: Amy (Brad) Brushaber of Beaverton and his two sons: Matthew (Kristen) McKimmy of Beaverton, and Andy (Tonya) McKimmy of Coleman. His children blessed him with eight beautiful granddaughters: Hannah, Mikayla, Anna, Abby, Brenna, Darby, Libby, Bryce, and one great grandchild: Hank. He is also survived by his two sisters: Jane Burgess of Texas and Marilyn (Norm) Chalifoux of Texas, sister-in-law: Janet McKimmy of Indiana, and multiple nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother: Jacob McKimmy, and brother-in-law: Ken Burgess. Funeral services will be conducted by Pastor Bill Raymor on Thursday, June 23, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. at the Beaverton Church of the Brethren in Beaverton, Michigan. The family will receive friends and family on Wednesday, June 22, 2016 from 12:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Hall Kokotovich Funeral Home, Beaverton, Michigan.
