Donald K. O'Brien

Donald K. O’Brien, 88, of Flint, Michigan passed away at Regency Nursing Home in Grand Blanc, Michigan on Thursday, June 16, 2016. He was born the son of Fred and Anna (Brewer) O’Brien on November 15, 1927 in Detroit, Michigan. On May 26, 1951 he was united in marriage to Lurene Walter in Owosso, Michigan. They shared 47 wonderful years together before she predeceased him in 1998. He was a veteran of the United States Army proudly serving his country during World War II. He was employed at Buick Motor Division in Flint, Michigan for 40 years, retiring in 1998. He had resided in Genesee County since 2000, previously residing in Beaverton, Michigan. Donald was a member of the American Legion Post 443 in Sanford, Michigan and of the F.O.E Secord Lake Aerie 4121 of Gladwin, Michigan. His memory will be cherished by his daughters: Michele (Dr. Eugene) Conte of Arizona, and Karla (Gary) Peppler of Elk Rapids and sons: Patrick (Deborah) O’Brien of Swartz Creek and Stephen O’Brien of Denver, Colorado. His children blessed him with five beautiful grandchildren: Chad, Jadea, Derek, Niki, and Alexandria and two great grandchildren: Claire and Roen. He is preceded in death by his wife Lurene O’Brien, grandson: Nachie Conte; granddaughter: Madison O’Brien, and his parents. Private services will be conducted and the family has requested no donations, no flowers and no cards.
