Barbara J. Johnston

Barbara J. Johnston, 74, of Beaverton, Michigan passed away at McLaren Bay Special Care in Bay City, Michigan on Friday, January 1, 2016. She was born in Bay City on November 19, 1941, the daughter of Evert & Chloris “Jean” (Woodruff) Fox. On January 10, 1981 she married her true love, David Johnston in Spring Lake, Michigan. She had lived in Gladwin County for the last 11 years, previously residing in Muskegon, Michigan where she was employed with the Muskegon Community Foundation until her retirement. She was a member of F.O.E. Albright Shores Aerie 3655 Auxiliary in Beaverton, and she was very involved helping Billings Township Parks and Recreation. Her memory will be cherished by her loving husband of 34 years, David Johnston of Beaverton and her children: Stacey (Chris) Davis of Auburndale, Florida; Kimberly (Chuck) Christmas of Grand Rapids, Michigan; Joshua (Lanka) Johnston of Phoenix, Arizona. Her children blessed her with 9 beautiful grandchildren. She is also survived by her only brother: James (Cindy) Fox of Bay City, Michigan; niece: Kristi (Greg) Bowlby of Ann Arbor, Michigan; nephew: Jay (Maren) Fox of Bay City. She is preceded in death by her parents. Honoring her memory, the family will host a luncheon to be served on Saturday, May 14, 2016, 1:00 P.M. at Albright Shores Eagles, Beaverton, Michigan. Those wishing to send an expression of sympathy in lieu of flowers are asked to consider making a donation for a Memorial Bench being placed at the Billings Twp.
