James “Jim” Arthur Weldin, 57, of Harrison, Michigan passed away at Mid Michigan Health in Midland, Michigan on Saturday, February 20, 2016. He was born in Wilmington, Delaware on May 2, 1958, the son of Lawrence A. & Evelin O. (Lockhart) Weldin. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp., Master Gunnery Sergeant, proudly serving his country after Vietnam. On June 30, 2010 he was united in marriage to his soul-mate, Kaye Blaine in Gladwin, Michigan. His childhood was spent growing up in Delaware and West Virginia, and he had lived in Clare County since 2014, previously residing in Beaverton, Michigan and before that, he spent much of his life in Delaware. Jim was a very kind and generous person who never met a stranger. When he met someone, he considered them a friend for life. There was a time when he literally took his coat off his back and gave it to them. He was a huge “joker” and a shameless flirt. He had a very great love for children and loved to teach them about whatever was their passion. He enjoyed building drag cars with his father and racing them. He was an avid outdoors-man, and loved to hunt and fish. He was a Volunteer Fireman in Delaware and served on the Beaverton Reserve Police Department. His memory will be cherished by his loving wife, Kaye Weldin of Harrison along with their 11 children. His children blessed him with 10 beautiful grandchildren and 3 wonderful great grandchildren. He is also survived by 1 brother: Lawrence and (Jo Ann) Weldin of Georgia; 2 brother in-laws: 1 sister in-law. He is preceded in death by his parents; 1 brother: William “Billy” Weldin. Funeral Services will be conducted by Pastor Brad Lower on Wednesday, February 24, 2016, 1:00 P.M. at Hall-Kokotovich Funeral Home, Gladwin, Michigan. Those wishing to send an expression of sympathy in lieu of flowers are asked to consider the Patriot Guard Riders.
