Velma Leona Ellsworth, 72, of Gladwin, Michigan passed away at Mid Michigan Gladwin Pines on Saturday, February 6, 2016. She was born in Bentleyville, Pennsylvania on January 15, 1944, the daughter of Daniel Clayton & Velma Leona (Davis) Lightner. On April 11, 1964 she was united in marriage to William “Bill” Ellsworth in Wayne, Michigan. They shared 51 wonderful years together before he predeceased her in 2014. She was a homemaker living in Gladwin County for the last 12 years, previously residing in Farmington Hills, Michigan. She was a member and "First Lady" of the American Legion 171 where she was also President of the Ladies Auxiliary, and the VFW Post 7303 where she enjoyed their fellowship, especially the BINGO events. She is survived by her sister: Betty (Robert) Hoffmaster of Florida; brother in-law: William "Bill" Nierman of North Carolina; many nieces and nephews; great nieces and great nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband: Bill Ellsworth; parents: Daniel & Velma Lightner; brother: Daniel (Linda) Lightner; sister: Catherine Mae Nierman. Honoring her wishes, cremation will take place and Graveside Services will be conducted by Fr. Marcel Portelli on Friday, May 6, 2016, 10:15 A.M at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Gladwin, Michigan.
